"Jon Giesecke, PowerPD's North American distributor, detected partial discharge, arcing and loose parts in a 345 kV auto transformer.  The TP500A was used to detect and locate the internal fault.  Locating this fault while the tranformer remained energized and loaded is where big cost savings are realized.  The attached PDF is the report with wave data and photos.
 
Many utilities will be facing similar problems as their equipment ages.  Detecting and locating these faults is a capability that all utilities should have.  Critical equipment such as generators and step-up transformers should have continous on-line monitoring, the rest of the fleet should be periodically surveyed.  We at PowerPD are dedicated to providing top of the line equipment and services to the electric power industry.  Please call for more details."
